HOMELESS FURNITURE

Unwanted furniture is often abandoned on the street,
fly tipped or dumped in a skip. It is an undignified
to an object that once sheltered in the home, a familiar
landmark within the everyday domestic landscape.

Is this the end of the line, the moment at which the object
has no further legitimate use or value?
Can homeless furniture be rehabilitated to become
desirable once again?

An attitude is adopted that acknowledges each piece of
abandoned furniture has a latent but unrealised potential
waiting to be released, a unique character that
can be combined with other objects to create a new identity
that carries the genes of the original.
Can a chair carry the DNA of drawer and table,
a dresser of bedstead and bureau?

The project aims to challenge the audience to
re-evaluate their perception of furniture type,
how it is defined and whether there is ever a
legitimate moment to leave it on the street.
